Purpose and Overview
To recognize the importance of collaboration between hospital staff and the OPO in maximizing the number of donor and potential donor cases.
Understanding that CORE must work in conjunction with health care providers to identify potential donors. Collaborative relationships are key to ensuring a successful organ donation outcome.
OBJECTIVES FOR THIS UNIT
At the end of this unit you should be able to understand and communicate:
- Federal regulations that guide hospital and OPO interactions related to organ and tissue donation
- Best practices regarding the donation process
- Potential negative outcomes of deviating from best practices
- Participation in huddle with staff from CORE and other relevant hospital staff
